Good morning,Local Republican lawmakers are fiercely pushing back against a controversial new plan by Albany Democrats to alter the state constitution for political redistricting. Assemblyman Joe Sempolinski of Canisteo joined regional leaders to denounce the proposal, which aims to lift current bans on partisan gerrymandering and allow congressional district lines to be redrawn mid-decade. Sempolinski accused majority leaders of attempting to permanently rig the maps for political power.Meanwhile, public schools across Cattaraugus and Allegany counties are celebrating a major financial windfall. The newly finalized state budget secured a fifteen-million-dollar boost in total academic aid for the region.
